John Butler
John Butler
John Butler is one of Australia’s premiere songwriters and storytellers, a fact confirmed recently when he took to the stage in the lead up to the bouncedown of the AFL Grand Final at Perth’s Optus Stadium last month.
With accolades spanning from #1 charting albums, platinum records and ARIA Awards across his illustrious career as one of the country’s most successful independent musicians, Butler’s rich catalogue of iconic hits spans over a quarter of a century with signature songs such as ‘Zebra’, ‘Better Than’, ‘Ocean’ and more. Butler’s music continues to traverse the globe having performed some of the world’s most iconic stages, venues and festivals including Fuji Rock, Glastonbury, Coachella, Red Rocks Amphitheatre and more with his high energy live show and revered musicianship.
“I can’t separate myself,” Butler once told Byron Bay’s The Echo, “what you see as a husband, as an artist or as a father is who I am. As a human being we live in intense times – it has always been intense. I think it’s important to keep hope. Hope is a verb. It’s a doing word. You don’t find hope, you make hope with your hands and the way you treat others, and from the way you choose to live your life.”
Kasey Chambers
Kasey Chambers
The youngest female ever to be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame, music is clearly a part of Kasey Chambers’ DNA. With 12 award-winning albums under her belt since the release of The Captain in 1999, Chambers’ brilliant songwriting and world-class performances have earned her a rightful position on the global country artist stage. Often described as a genre-defying singer and songwriter, she wears the honesty of country music on her sleeve and has become one of the most popular and acclaimed artists of her generation in Australia while winning a devoted cult following in the rest of the world.
Chambers and her band will play all of her much-loved songs from ‘The Captain’ and ‘Barricades & Brickwalls’ (which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year) all the way through her career to now, in a very special performance not to be missed.
“I still love playing all those old songs from ‘Barricades & Brickwalls’ and ‘The Captain’,” Chambers recently told double j radio. “Both of those records still take up most of my live setlist today. I just love them. I love going back and revisiting all those places.
“The thing that I'm most proud of in my career is that I always stuck to my guns. I always did what was right for me. I didn't follow any trends. I didn't do what people thought I should do. I didn't do what people wanted me to do.”
Kingswood
Kingswood
Opening proceedings will be two acclaimed Australian acts. Although restrictions have thwarted the touring plans of musicians globally, Kingswood continue to charge in 2021 with a new high-octane single, ‘You Make It So Easy’. A dynamic force on stage, the ARIA-nominated group has enjoyed strong success on the road in Australia and abroad, with a tour history that includes shows with AC/DC and Aerosmith, festival appearances at Splendour in the Grass, Falls and Groovin The Moo, as well as multiple sold-out tours across the country counting as proud achievements.
Thornbird
Thornbird
Best known as one-third of beloved Australian folk/roots outfit, The Waifs, Vikki Thorn has taken time out to launch her solo venture, Thornbird, backed by some of WA’s best musicians. Thorn’s powerful vocals and unique blues harp playing are again well to the fore on her debut album, due for release before the end of the year.
